About Me
I have spent a large part of my career
photographing (under the name GIRLRAY) for magazines such as
Entertainment Weekly, People, Esquire, Wired,
Glamour and have also had my works appear in ads
for Epson, Lexus, Verizon, American Express and
Bravo Network to name a few.
When you photograph in the commercial world, there
is a part of you that implicitly knows that you are
selling useless products to people who don’t need
them and probably can’t afford them. By most
moral standards this makes me a bad person. Even with
this scarlet letter branded on my forehead, family,
friends and strangers consistently ask me in earnest,
“What kind of camera do you recommend?”
Finally, an opportunity to
use my powers for good,
and I don’t even have to donate a kidney.
I have opinions. I know how to say, “look into the
camera” in five different languages. I cried when
they discontinued Kodachrome. If you are my
friend and have a birthday, you will have a photo
expose that rivals most paparazzi stalked
celebrities.
While I do keep company with many fine professional
photographers and can get all geeky and technical
about all the latest gimmicks coming out, I realize
that most peoples eyes glaze over when they hear
charge coupled device (CCD), Optical Image Stabilizer
(OIS), or even Optional Composite Video Cable.
My goal is to create a site that speaks to the
every-day person that just wants to know if the
camera takes a good picture, is easy to use, and can
deliver a good bang for the buck.
