The Olympus XZ-1 has almost everything you would want from a photo enthusiast class camera. A good pixel count, a very fast lens, raw file support, and a well implemented manual exposure mode.
Extra kudos to Olympus for doing away with any extra confusing buttons or dials and providing a super versatile lens range, 28-112mm equivalent.
At F1.8-2.5 it’s it is in a completely different league to the F2.0-4.9 offered by the Canon S95 to which it’s otherwise so similar. The biggest benefit of a super-fast lens like this is the ability to take hand-held shots in low light, without having to dial in crazy-high ISO sensitivity settings that can make your photos look like sandpaper.
I am also in love with its high quality OLED screen that can give a pretty darn good idea of what the density of the final image will look like. You won’t be disappointed when you see the final photos.
